First Time Conversation Starters
Don't get stuck on an awkward moment when you say hello to your new matches. itzamatch.com offers the following suggestions:
1. Compliment your match. This will make your match feel good and could lead to a conversation about your preferences in books, movies, or fashion.
2. Ask your match how his or her day went or how his or her day usually goes. Spice up your conversation with anecdotes of day-to-day experiences and bloopers.
3. Try to know if your match likes his/ her current job or school course or subject. This could lead to both of you talking about your goals, your plans, or a good bashing over that tyrant of a teacher you hate so much.
4. Ask your match where he or she lives or has lived, or even where your date graduated. You may find you have friends or acquaintances in common. Nothing beats those, "You know XXXXX!?!?!" moments.
5. Mention a current event. Ask something like "Who did you vote for and why?" But avoid debates that could lead into fights.
6. Ask your match about his or her favorite past time or hobby. Who knows, it may lead to plans for more online conversations, or... *sigh,* a realtime date!
The most important thing to keep in mind is to be your old charming self. Never dominate the conversation or you may end up having dessert, alone.
